FULL TIME - LEAD HAND

Deliverables and Accountabilities

The Lead Hand is a key part of the fulfillment of the promises we make to our customers. The company’s brand and customer experience relies on the proper execution of the responsibilities of this role. The areas of accountability are as follows:

Deliverables

  1. Support the Site Supervisor by delivering projects on budget and training of field staff.
  2. Keep deficiencies to a minimum by checking over work.
  3. Aid in the maintenance of an average 9/10 quality score through assisting with the customer’s experience and ensuring they are exceptionally satisfied.
  4. 40 hours produced on budget and on schedule per week.
  5. Daily updates to all required administrative tracking systems.

Accountabilities

Deliverable 1 – Delivering projects on budget and on schedule:

  1. Attend weekly meetings with the Project Manager to gain full understanding of projects and their daily and weekly goals.
  2. Attend Daily meetings with the Project Supervisor, to set daily goals and assign tasks to the rest of the crew.
  3. Help to ensure tools and materials are prepared in advance to enable projects to be produced in the most efficient manner possible.
  4. Work in a pre-planned and efficient manner to ensure all tasks are being completed within the allotted time frame.
  5. Double check all work being produced by yourself and your crew members to proactively prevent deficiencies.
  6. Immediately address deficiencies to prevent production delays.
  7. Ensure all necessary materials and tool rentals are requested daily to prevent delays to the production schedule. (Making lists at the end of the day, take the tools off for the last 30 minutes)
  8. Help to ensure all new employees have a clear understanding of tools: their use, how to operate them safely, cleaning procedures, as well as organization.
  9. If a Project Supervisor is not on site, or available the Lead hand is responsible for the leadership and reporting for that project.
  10. Maintain regular contact with the Project Manager to ensure that all project progress is on track, in the event the Lead Hand is in charge.

Deliverable 2 – Keep Deficiencies to minimum by checking over work:

  1. The Lead Hand is responsible for checking over the work performed by themselves and any apprentices working with them.
  2. At the end of the day the lead hand reviews the work completed, and ensure it meets electrical code, and functions.
  3. Test items for power using a meter, not a Tic Tester.
  4. Any deficiencies caused by the crew are to be explained to the crew member so they learn from their mistakes.

Deliverable 3 – Customer Service:

  1. Communicate with all customers as necessary to understand any questions or concerns they may have in the absence of the Project Supervisor.
  2. Refer all customer questions related to changes to project timelines, work scope, design, and/or Change Orders to the Project Supervisor. (Before proceeding)
  3. Provide the Project Supervisor with daily updates regarding any customer interactions.
  4. Ensure all Castle Electric employees and subcontractors are communicating with customers in a professional and polite manner. Report any issues to be addressed by the Project Manager.

Deliverable 4 – 40 hours produced on schedule and on budget per week.:

  1. Lead hands are expected to work 40 hours a week of billable time.
  2. Arrive to the jobsite on time and ready to work by 7:30am (8am in some cases)
  3. A regular work day ends at 4pm, lead hands must work till 3:30pm and then prepare for testing and cleanup.

Deliverable 5 – Administrative Responsibilities:

  1. Maintain and update accurate data in Knowify, Hours must be entered daily before leaving a project.
  2. Maintain and update accurate to do lists/ material lists in the absence of the Project Supervisor, using the company supplied notebook.
  3. Accurately complete all expense forms – travel mileage and job related (if applicable). Submissions are due daily.

Reporting

  1. Report directly to the Project Supervisor.
  2. Attend meetings on time with prep completed.
  3. Maintain and update accurate data for all previously listed administrative responsibilities as per individual submission deadlines.

The following will require sign off and/or notification of the Project Manager

  1. Any serious injury or accident occurring on a Castle Electric job site.
  2. Any liability, warranty or damage issue.
  3. Any incidence of fraud or theft within the company.
  4. All purchasing of new tools.
  5. Any incident involving damage to Castle Electric’s or customer’s assets.
  6. A serious breach by an employee or stakeholder of our corporate values.
  7. Major strategic, cash, people or brand initiatives

Compensation Structure

All Lead Hands are paid biweekly the pay period encompasses the previous two weeks Payment deposits are issued the following Friday and a pay stub issued electronically

Hours of Work & Overtime

Monday- Friday, 7:30 am – 4pm. (Sometimes 8am, you will be told) It is expected that you arrive on site 10 minutes prior to the crew’s scheduled arrival each day. Full time is assumed but not guaranteed. Occasionally overtime and Saturdays may be required.

If overtime is required, Lead Hands must get pre-approval from the Project Manager.

FULL TIME - ELECTRICIAN

Deliverables and Accountabilities

The Electrician is a key part of the fulfillment of the promises we make to our customers. The company’s brand and customer experience relies on the proper execution of the responsibilities of this role. The areas of accountability are as follows:

Deliverables

-40 hours produced on budget and on schedule per week.

-Aid in the maintenance of an average 9/10 quality score through assisting with the customer’s experience and ensuring they are exceptionally satisfied.

-Daily updates to all required administrative tracking systems.

-Maintain Castle Electrics quality and efficiency in all daily tasks.

Accountabilities

Deliverable 1 – Delivering projects on budget and on schedule:

  1. Attend weekly meetings with the the Lead Hand and Project Supervisor to gain full understanding of projects and their daily and weekly goals.
  2. Come to daily meetings prepared and engaged to set and discuss daily goals.
  3. Read and interpret drawings, circuit diagrams and electrical code specifications to determine wiring layouts for new or existing installations.
  4. Install brackets and hangers to support electrical equipment.
  5. Install, replace and repair lighting fixtures and electrical control and distribution equipment, such as switches, relays and circuit breaker panels.
  6. Test continuity of circuits using test equipment to ensure compatibility and safety of system, following installation, replacement or repair.
  7. Instruct apprentices.
  8. Install underground wiring and cables.
  9. Connect power to audio and visual equipment and lighting control.
  10. Renovate electrical systems in residential spaces.
  11. Troubleshoot and isolate faults in electrical and electronic systems and remove and replace faulty components.
  12. Connect electrical power to audio and visual communication equipment, signaling devices and heating and cooling systems.
  13. Conduct preventive maintenance programs and keep maintenance records.
  14. Help to ensure tools and materials are prepared in advance to enable projects to be produced in the most efficient manner possible.
  15. Work in a pre-planned and efficient manner to ensure all tasks are being completed within the allotted time frame.
  16. Double check all work you produce to proactively prevent deficiencies.
  17. Immediately address deficiencies to prevent production delays.
  18. Ensure all necessary materials and tool rentals are requested daily to prevent delays to the production schedule.

  3. When needed aid in material lists and project information at the end of the day.

Deliverable 4 – Maintain Castle Electric’s Quality/Speed:

  1. Refer to the SOP for a detailed description on Castle Electric’s processes.
  2. Perform all work in such a manner that it is neat, legible, and safe.
  3. Pursue efficient and time-saving methods when possible

Reporting

  1. Report directly to the Lead Hand and Project Manager.
  2. Attend meetings on time with prep completed.
  3. Maintain and update accurate data for all previously listed administrative responsibilities as per individual submission deadlines.

The following will require sign off and/or notification of the Project Manager:

  1. Any serious injury or accident occurring on a Castle Electric job site.
  2. Any liability, warranty or damage issue.

Compensation Structure

Pay structure is based on experience and attitude.

All employees are paid biweekly the pay period encompasses the previous two weeks. Payment deposits are issued the following Friday and a pay stub is stored online, accessible with a login and password.

Hours of Work & Overtime

Monday- Friday, 7:30 am – 4pm. (Sometimes 8am, you will be made aware) It is expected that you arrive on site prior to the crew’s star time, allowing time to setup and be ready to produce at 7:30am. Full time is assumed but not guaranteed. Occasionally overtime and Saturdays may be required.

If overtime is required, employees must get pre-approval from the Project Manager.

FULL TIME - PROJECT SUPERVISOR

Deliverables and Accountabilities

The Project Supervisor is a key part of the fulfillment of the promises we make to our customers. The company’s brand and customer experience rely on the proper execution of the responsibilities of this role. The areas of accountability are as follows:

Deliverables

  • Supervise 400,000 In Produced Revenue at 40% Gross Profit
  • 36 hours produced on budget and on schedule per week.
  • Aid in the maintenance of an average 9/10 quality score through assisting with the customer’s experience and ensuring they are exceptionally satisfied. Minimum 3 reviews per quarter.
  • Provide initial and ongoing training to all Castle Electric employees, ensuring each is competent in their required skill set.
  • Daily updates to all required administrative tracking systems.

Accountabilities

Deliverable 1 – Supervise $400,000 in Produced Revenue at 40% Gross Profit

  1. Each Site supervisor will be responsible for supervising their share of Castle Electric’s Projects.
  2. The Supervisor will be responsible for a mixture of new custom homes/ renovations, as well as service work (Service upgrades, car chargers, Lighting control upgrades).
  3. Will work with the scope document to hit Gross Profit targets on all projects responsible for.
  4. Will work with the project manager to assess the best means to complete the work.

  1. Attend weekly meetings with the Project Manager to gain full understanding of projects and their daily and weekly goals.

  9. Coordinate with the General Contractor, designer, or Homeowner any questions regarding layout or design to allow us to accurately install our products.
  10. Maintain regular contact with the Project Manager to ensure that all project progress is on track.
  11. Record any changes to the scope as requested by Contractors, designers, or homeowners in Knowify. This will be reviewed with the Project Manager. No work will be performed before issuing an update in price which is signed.

Deliverable 3 – Customer Service:

  1. Communicate with all customers as necessary to understand any questions or concerns they may have.
  2. Provide the Project Manager with daily updates regarding any customer interactions.
  3. Ensure all Castle Electric employees and subcontractors are communicating with customers in a professional and polite manner. Report any issues to be addressed by the Project Manager.
  4. Ensure that Castle Electric receives 3 positive reviews per quarter, by providing excellent customer service

Deliverable 4 – Provide On-going training to Apprentices:

  1. Ensure all new employees have a clear understanding of tools: their use, how to operate them safely, cleaning procedures, as well as Van use and organization.
  2. Conduct all training necessary for each employee to develop required skills in their specific role in order to produce jobs confidently and efficiently.
  3. Ensure all employees understand the importance of goal setting and are committed to tracking their productivity on site.

Deliverable 5 – Administrative Responsibilities:

  1. Maintain and update accurate data in Knowify, and any systems being used by the company. Hours must be entered daily before leaving a project. Ensure all staff members also enter their hours before leaving.
  2. Maintain and update accurate to do lists/ material lists in Knowify daily to keep projects on track for return trips. (Lose the belt at 3:20, start paperwork).
  3. Any change orders requested on site by the general contractor, designer, or homeowner can be made into a draft for review with the Project Manager. The Project Supervisor will use the computer/tablet provided to create these, and send them once approved with the Project Manager.
  4. Any complex change orders (Example: source out lighting etc.) will remain the responsibility of the Project Manager.
  5. Accurately complete all expense forms – travel mileage and job related (if applicable). Submissions are due daily.

Reporting

  1. Report directly to the Project Manager

  3. Maintain and update accurate data for all previously listed administrative responsibilities as per individual submission deadlines.

The following will require sign off and/or notification of the Project Manager

  4. All purchasing of new tools.
  5. Any incident involving damage to Castle Electric’s or customer’s assets.

  7. Major strategic, cash, people or brand initiatives.

Compensation Structure

All Project Supervisors are paid biweekly the pay period encompasses the previous two weeks Payment deposits are issued the following Friday and a pay stub issued electronically.

Project Supervisors will be provided a tablet/ Computer for company use only.

Project Supervisors will be provided a work vehicle if available. If no Van is available a Gas card will be provided for compensation of fuel costs. The Gas card is to be used to fill up only Monday-Friday for expenses incurred driving between projects.

A Company phone or phone plan will be provided after the 3-month probation period.

FULL TIME - PROJECT MANAGER

Deliverables and Accountabilities

The Project Manager is the key to fulfilling the promises we make to our customers. The company’s brand and financial performance relies on the proper execution of the responsibilities of this role. The areas of accountability are as follows:

Deliverables

1) Manage $400,000 of revenue.

2) 40 hours personally produced on budget and on schedule per week.

3) Maintain an average 9/10 quality score through leading the customer’s experience and ensuring they are exceptionally satisfied.

4) Less than 3% Call backs on all projects finished quarterly

5) Daily updates to all required administrative tracking systems.

Accountabilities

Deliverables 1 and 2 – Delivering projects on budget and on schedule:

  1. Take booked projects from the Estimator and schedule them into production for efficient and profitable completion.
  2. Schedule and organize all Castle Electric employees, tools and materials to complete projects in the most efficient way possible.
  3. Set and discuss daily and weekly goals with your The crew plays an essential role in reaching your targets as a Project Manager and you will need an effective plan.
  4. Ensure all necessary materials and tool rentals are ordered and arranged at least 2 days in advance to prevent delays to the production schedule.
  5. Oversee and support in production on a daily basis to ensure Castle Electric employees are producing on budget and on schedule.
  6. Ensure all Change Orders (additions or changes to the scope of work/contract) are approved with a digital signature in Knowify. Approval is required from the General Contractor, and customer before commencement of the work.
  7. Maintain regular contact with General Contractors, suppliers, designers, customers, employees, Senior Project Manager to ensure that all project progress is on track.

Deliverable 3 – Customer Service:

  1. Communicate with all customers as necessary to answer any questions they may have. Check in with customers daily (on small projects) and once a week on larger projects to ensure they are happy with the progression of the project.
  2. Update all customers with any changes to their project schedule. If we aren’t on site, or will be late, ensure they know this.
  3. Prepare a Progress Report for Project management meetings on Fridays.
  4. Ensure all Castle Electric employees and subcontractors are communicating with customers in a professional and polite manner.
  5. Ensure none of Castle Electric employees or subcontractors communicate with customers about the work scope, design, or make suggestions outside of the contracted scope of work.
  6. Oversee any customer complaints and ensure they are resolved in a timely manner. Complaint customers must be contacted within 2 hours of complaint being received. All complaints must be reported to the Senior Project Manager within 4 hours along with suggested method of resolution.
  7. Conduct a final customer walk through to ensure full satisfaction and that all deficiencies have been taken care of prior to final sign off of project completion.

Deliverable 4 – Less than 3% callbacks on finished Projects.:

  1. Ensure that all projects are completed 100% by performing an end of project walkthrough with the client and Site Supervisor.
  2. Ensure quality products are used, and no work is left in a manner to cause failure.
  3. Test all finished items for proper function before leaving the project.
  4. Ensure power is always turned back on during renovations.

Deliverable 5 – Administrative Responsibilities:

  1. Maintain and update accurate data in Knowify, the company’s project management and time clock software, for yourself. As well as review of employee timecards in Knowify.
  2. Ensure Material purchases are entered daily in Knowify, under the right project phase. This is done for every project the Project manager is currently managing.
  3. Update all projects in Insightly the companies CRM, for changes in project pipelines, and to ensure all stages are completed.
  4. Maintain and update accurate scheduling and data updates in Team Up, the company’s Scheduling App, daily. Project schedules for Castle Electric employees and subcontractors are to be reviewed and confirmed Daily.
  5. Sign off on Castle Electric Scope Document at the completion of entire project.
  6. Ensure all Change Orders (additions or changes to the scope of work/contract) are approved with a digital signature. Approval is required from the General Contractor, and customer before commencement of the work.
  7. Prepare Weekly Progress Report for Project Manager Meetings on Fridays.

Reporting

  1. Report directly to the General Manager Michael Haff.
  2. Attend weekly GSR meetings (Fridays) on time with prep completed by Thursday at 3pm.
  3. Maintain and update accurate data for all previously listed administrative responsibilities as per individual submission deadlines.

The following will require sign off and/or notification of the Senior Project Manager.

  1. Any serious injury or accident occurring on a Castle Electric job site.
  2. Any liability, warranty or damage issue.

Pre-requisites for employment

  • Own hand tools and drill.
  • Valid BC drivers license
  • Understanding of build/design drawings
  • Residential experience (is a plus), or pre-apprenticeship.

Apprenticeship

As an apprentice, you are able to work along-side a crew of experienced journeymen and electricians, providing the opportunity to learn daily. We have structured ourselves to keep the knowledge fluid ensuring everybody is reaching their potential. Furthermore, we recognize outstanding work and promote from within.

Journeyman duties

  • Electrical installs to the company’s standards of quality
  • Coordinating with project manager or site lead to become familiar with project goals
  • Reporting to project manager with site specific progress, challenges, or client communications
  • Mentoring apprentices working alongside you
  • Demonstrate a competent understanding of Canadian Electrical Code
